Junior Worlds 2019 awarded to Frankfurt (Oder)
The UCI Management Committee has announced that the 2019 Junior World Championships have been allocated to Frankfurt (Oder). „We are very happy. This is a huge highlight for Frankfurt (Oder) and Brandenburg on one side and also a big assignment on the other hand. But we like to progress the cycling in Brandenburg“, said Dan Radtke, manager of the organizing cycling club Frankfurter RC 90. The 5 day event will be held from the 14. – 18. August 2019 with athletes from 40 Nations.
After the European Track Cycling Championships 2017 and the TISSOT UCI Track Cycling World Cup (30. November – 2. December) 2018 and also the Track Cycling World Championships 2020 at the Berlin Velodrome, another great highlight in the oval will take place in Germany. The budget lies by around 200.000 Euro. The cycling track at the Oderlandhalle in Frankfurt (Oder) was opened in 1988 and renovated from 2013 until 2014 to reach a international standard of a 250m track. This year, the Junior World Championships will take place from the 15. – 19. August in Aigle/Switzerland. In 2020, the Junior Worlds have been allocated to Cairo (Egypt).
